Blue Lines in Live View

edited July 2013 Posted in » Canon 60D Forum
On the 60D live view there are blue lines on either side, and also when I am reviewing the images. There are blue lines on either side on landscape oriented images and blue lines on the top and bottom on portrait oriented images. I couldn't find in the manual what they are. Are they something I need to pay attention to?

Let me make sure I have this right. If shooting in JPEG the blue lines indicate where the image is going to be cropped (the camera does this on its own). If shooting in RAW the entire image will be saved with no cropping at the blue lines. Therefore, if I am shooting in RAW I don't really have to worry about the blue lines?

Thank you. All I do is shoot and edit in RAW. I could never go back to shooting JPG. The 60D is an upgrade for me as I have been shooting with a Rebel T3. So far though I love the 60D. I just want to make sure there are no quirks that leave me with surprises (auto cropping without knowing it)!
