Sunset Shot with 18-200mm Lens

I am going out again tonight to take a few shots as the sun is going down. Can anyone give me pointers for taking a great shot, because mine didn't turn out that great.

    Thank you. I never shoot pointing at the sun, I agree with you there. The sky is clear with no big industry and I was on the lake front. Any hints on AP?

    The images look like I was using a disposable camera and the moon was far away.
