Solmeta GPS interferes with flash

I just bought a Solmeta N2 GPS unit, which mounts on the accessory shoe. Unfortunately, when the gps is mounted on the camera, it blocks the flash (the door can't open). A short stick with a foot that fits into the shoe on one end and another shoe on the other would solve the problem. Is such a thing available?

Have you tried a hot shoe extension that can rotate 360 degrees? I am in the UK and Amazon sells this. It allows multiple units to be used like the GPS and a flash and as it rotates you may be able to get the GPS unit out of the way by rotating it 90 degrees to either side.
