What is the best setting for the D3100 to take pictures at night or in a dark place with the DX 55mm-200mm vr lens?

Photography known as art. You do your way, but I do my way. :) It depend on what subjects are you going to take. Use A, P mode for now and remember to set White Balance (WB) to Auto so you can't blame the camera. :) You will figure that out. Have fun!
