Use of extender with camera

I take pictures of my granddaughters playing soccer. I have the 70-300mm 1:4-5.6 IS USM that I use during daylight games,
and I have the 70-200 2.8L non IS lens for night. Would it be to my advantage to get an extender to use with the faster lens for daylight? Thanks.

You will loose 2 stops with a 2x and 1 stop with a 1.4x.
