Old Tamron x2 Teleconverter for Nikon

edited June 2012 Posted in » Nikon D3100 Forum
Folks,

I bought this old Tamron x2 Teleconverter for Nikon to use on my Tamron 70-300mm lens but when I put it on it just says "no lens attached" and the camera aperture, even on manual, closes right down and it won't let me open it. Though it does give me limited shutter speed control. Any pics taken are totally black, even in bright sunlight. Can anyone help? Is there any way I can set the camera up so I can use this? Or have I ignorantly bought something that is useless with my camera? It is for Nikon F apparently, whatever that means?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

JP

  • No, it can't be done. You need a converter that's compatible with your camera and lenses. Nikon F is the old film camera standard and it cannot be adapted for use with modern digital cameras. It needs the cpu contacts to communicate with the camera.
  • Thanks for the clarification-much appreciated!
  • You could probably tape the aperture ring open and set the camera to manual.

Oh sounds good Tim, thanks a million. Though I'm not sure how to do this.
