Vintage feel and effects

edited April 2012 Posted in » Nikon D3100 Forum
I was curious if anyone has tips on how to take a photo with more of a vintage feel. I hope that makes sense. I like the bright colors I get, I just want them tweaked slightly. I'm new to this so I'm just trying to get everything figured out. Thank you in advance!

  • Howdy @TNHalbert09 - To get that vintage look, you'll need to post-process your images using photo editing software. There are lots of options out there depending on what you'd like to do with the images. If you're just looking to share photos on Facebook, Pinterest, Google+, etc... then you might check out the Aviary tool offered by Flickr which has some vintage filters and effects.

If you're looking to print your images and retain the highest level of image quality, you'll need to use Lightroom (see here) and a nifty plugin called Color Efex by Nik Software (see here). The Color Efex plugin provides tons of great filters and borders to help you get that vintage look you're after. Happy shooting! :)
