Sending to iPad

I have a new Nikon D5300, which replaced a D3300. I have never had trouble sending photos or film to my iPad via a dongle, but now I am having terrible trouble. I have had days of trying and failing. When I call the storage folder and the playback folder the same EG D5300 all seems OK; am I doing that right? What I cannot understand is that I never noticed this trouble on the D3300. I hope someone out there can confirm or help. I have even bought the official transfer lead from Apple.
