Nikon AF-S Nikkor 50mm f/1.8G Lens 2199

edited August 2015 Posted in » Nikon D3200 Forum
I purchased this lens for advanced shooting but I am having some issues. First off, can someone confirm this is compatible with the D3200?

When I press the button to shoot the picture, nothing happens. It was working before, but now it wont snap the picture. Any ideas?

Thanks for your help!

Does the camera work as expected with any other lenses?

It should be compatible, but it sounds as if it is not locking on to focus correctly. In the usual AF mode, the camera will not shoot unless it has found focus.

I'd start by removing the lens and cleaning the contacts on it and the camera with a little alcohol, remount, and see if the AF is working. Also make sure the AF/M switch on the lens itself is fully set at one or the other setting. Aim it at something reasonably complex and contrasty (in other words not the sky or the ocean).

Reset the lens to manual focus, and if the camera still does not fire, then it's probably not the fault of the lens.
