Horse showing photography

Which lens would be best considered for detail shots on horses and showing? Sigma 150-500mm f/5.3, or Nikon 55-300mm?

    Assuming you're using a DX format camera, I think you'll find the 150-500mm uncomfortably long, though it would be nice for birds and wildlife. But you'll have difficulty getting far enough away to get a whole horse. The 55-300mm does pretty well at close distances, and with its reach you can get a lot of detail when you need it.
