Camera won't save a picture taken from the LED Screen

I use my Canon Rebel T3i in auto mode. I made a manual adjustment for shutter speed but reset that. Now when I take a picture using the LED screen the picture does not save. A picture will only save when taken thru the eye piece. Is this a setting error or a broken camera problem? I have looked thru my manual and the forums and can't find answers. Thank you for your help.

    Fixed it. Switched from quick view to live view, in the live view settings.

    Train yourself to think of 'quick view' as 'quick menu' which is what it is. This should stop you from making the same mistake again.
