Can the Nikon D3100 be operated by a Nikon remote control ML-L3?

    No. They put the facility back in the D3200, but it seems they left it out of the D3100, much to the chagrin of many. You can use a wired control, and I think if you look around at Amazon and the like you may find one that includes a wired receiver and a wireless transmitter, but no infrared.
