Screw on ND filter

Any views or experiences will help.

I recently purchased a Tiffen 3.0 to help with getting long exposures. This produced a thick pink line across the whole image. I'm less than impressed, thankfully a refund has been granted.

After doing some research for an alternative I have seen 10 stop filters made by NISI and Haida. Does anyone have any experience with these or can you recommend another make?

Thanks in advance and keep up the good work.

I'm rather surprised that the Tiffen was so obviously defective, but it's been a long time since I bought a new ND filter. Considering how trouble free even cheap filters usually are, it's odd. Perhaps a gross impurity in the glass?

Most of my filters are old things of brands no longer available, but I do have a 2x Hoya that is quite alright. Hoya still exists, and I think they're pretty reliable.
