Best lens for motocross

edited September 2014 Posted in » Nikon D3200 Forum
I am looking to get a lens that will work very well for shooting motocross pictures. Do you have any suggestions? I currently own the standard 55-200mm and the 18-55mm.

If you’ll be in daylight, your 55-200mm will work. If you’re shooting after the sun sets or indoors, you may need either the 70-200mm f/4 or 70-200mm f/2.8.

If you want more reach, there’s the 55-300mm. If you get this lens, you should sell off your 55-200mm.
If you go past 300mm, it starts to get crazy expensive.

I would suggest to try it with your current 55-200mm first. Work on your panning and focus tracking technique. Crop into your shots to get closer. If you still feel you need more reach or larger max aperture, then consider getting a new lens.
