Video focusing help

Good day,

I wish to learn how to focus on different objects using my Canon 60D (Video), but I am unsure how.
Here is an example of what I wish to achieve:

I have tried searching online, but everything I have read does not make sense to me.
What setting and buttons must I use before beginning to film and during the filming process?

Any help (in simple terms) is greatly appreciated.
