Nikon D3200 not connecting to Mac

Good morning all.

I'm having problems having my camera connect to my mac air. I have downloaded the software that accompanied the camera (even though that was a complete chore itself) and it's still not working. The manual makes it seem as though you only have to plug the camera to your computer and that's it. Does anyone have advice? I've gone through the Apple discussion forums and cannot find an answer.

Never mind, it is magically working. Although, if any mac users can assist with transferring the pictures from the Nikon picture program to iPhoto, I would be forever grateful! I know I'm missing something and it's probably super simple.
