Cloudy Portland Oregon Shoot

edited November 2013 Posted in » Canon 60D Forum
I have a photo shoot coming up for a family friend. I live in Portland, Oregon so it maybe cloudy and overcast? I have an 18-200mm lens kit. What would be a proper setting to set given the weather condition? I'm sure that I will use automatic, but I have been using creative settings. Just trying to find what F/stop and ISO would work?

Cloudy usually means wider apertures like f/3.5-5.6 in Av mode. The ISO you should set to Auto or limited Auto (Auto 3200). Anything over 3200 is going to produce a lot of noise. Set your white balance to cloudy also. You could also set auto lighting optimizer to on, but I prefer to adjust exposure by 1 or 2 increments on the plus side.
If you are prepared to do some post processing, shoot in RAW or RAW+JPG.
    Good luck with your shoot.
