ND filters

I want to buy an ND filter so I can take long exposures during the day. What size and type should I buy for my 18-55mm kit lens?

That lens uses a 52mm filter. I've had a couple of cheapies, that I would avoid. I would recommend a variable filter so you can adjust the number of stops. I'm thinking of picking up a ProMaster 9538 52mm Variable Neutral Density ND Filter from National Camera tonight. It gets good reviews and is only about $50.
