AE lock issues

edited March 2012 Posted in » Canon 60D Forum
Hello and thanks in advance for your help. I am going on holiday soon and I accidentally pressed the AE Lock button when in AV Mode. Now I've got problems taking photos because I cant see the AF Points in the viewfinder. All I can see is a little star flicker. What can I do to unlock the AE button?

@8582 - Have you tried resetting the camera back to default or factory settings?

@8582 - It may not be the AE lock button at fault. AE lock is cancelled when you switch off the camera. I had this same problem with a 400D (Rebel XTi).

What had happened was I had accidentally pressed the right hand arrow key on picking up the camera and had changed the focus to AI Servo. As this a 'Sports' mode, when I focused on a still view I had lost all my AF points and just had a little flicker in the centre occasionally.

Might be worth checking. Otherwise follow Auston's advice. Regards - PBked
