How water resistant is my 60D?

edited June 2013 Posted in » Canon 60D Forum
I'm pretty leafy about getting my 60D dirty or wet, but living in Southeast Georgia sometimes I really want to get out and shoot in the rain. It's almost always a storm though it rarely just rains here so I'm scared to get my precious wet! I have the 18-135mm phone kit lens and 430exll. How much if any rain can it take? Is there anything other than an umbrella I can use to help protect my motif I do get caught in a storm? Thanks for any help.

    Hi,
I would classify your 60D as water resistant rather than waterproof. You don't want to get it soaked. Especially look out for the join between the lens and body. However, all is not lost. Go online, there are some third party firms making rain-proof bags for DSLRs. Some are a bit shoddy but others will enable you to go out in a monsoon. As usual, you get what you pay for.
