Underwater Photography

edited June 2013 Posted in » Nikon D5100 Forum
I have recently acquired a 50mm f/1.8 D for my Nikon D5100 and wanted to do some underwater photography. I have my aquariums and I thought that it would be quite nice to shoot some snaps of my fish.

Earlier I tried it out with the basic 18-55mm kit lens and was fairly successful. However, since acquiring the 50mm, I wanted to give it a try again. I tried with the normal mode and was happy as long as the fish remained steady more or less. The challenge was to get it right when the fish zipped past.

I tried shutter mode, but the pictures were pitch black. I tried adjusting the ISO settings, but I got little change with that.

What am I doing wrong? Moreover, is the 50mm lens a correct choice for what I'm doing, or am I getting it wrong there.

Kindly help.

Thanks,
Surjasama
