Memory Card Count not Changing

Hi all,
I formatted a new larger memory card (only had a 4 GB one in before, now it's a 16). It's taking pictures alright, but the counter says 999 and doesn't change; it doesn't count down.

Any ideas?

Thanks for that. I need to look at the book more carefully, but there are so many things to absorb. I didn't realize that had to be checked as well.
I went through that and tried to change it and for some reason it kept flipping back to continuous. One time it worked, but it still didn't change the number from 999. I may have to bring it in.
