Black And White Photo

edited October 2012 Posted in » Canon T3i Forum
I'm wanting to enlarge (16x20) some black and white photos of my son. Is it better to take the picture in black and white (meaning change the camera settings) or take the picture in color and change it to black and white using an editing software (I'm currently using Picasa)?

Thank you!

    Hi Jessica
If possible take the picture in RAW format. This will give you a color version with all data contained in it. You can then post process as much as you like and change to black and white. The results are far better than applying a black and white filter to a JPG and provided you save your finished result to a different file name, you get to keep a full color version as well.
