P Mode For Outdoors

edited September 2012 Posted in » Canon 60D Forum
Is P mode the only way to shoot outdoors? A professional photographer advised this saying that it would prevent over exposure and underexposure. I tried this with my kids and the photos have come out dark with a greyish haze. I just hated the way they looked. I'm disappointed that the beach trip pictures of the kids were a flop, and I see these beautiful beach pictures of people on flickr.

Any advice here?

Thanks.

It's certainly not the only way to shoot outside. I almost always use either aperture priority or the outdoor setting. I prefer ap priority but sometimes the extra color you can get in the outdoor mode is just too good to pass up.Ninety-five percent of my shooting is done outside (a lot at the beach) and I've never used P.

There are some pros that recommend that you never use P.
