Shooting a band at night

edited September 2012 Posted in » Nikon D5100 Forum
Hi,

I would like to know which settings to use when I shoot a band at night (indoor) with strobe lights. It's quite dark but has a lot of colorful lights on the stage and I want to make the best out of it. I have a Nikon D5100 with the kit lens. Please advise which lens with which settings I should shoot. I don't use a tripod and I cannot be on the stage. Would really appreciate any help.

You should google or youtube froknowsphoto.

He's pretty spot on when it comes to photographing bands whether it's day time or night time.

    Hope that helps!

A low f-stop lens would be great. I have a Nikon 35mm f/1.8 that I use for indoor low light shooting. The lens is pretty cheap on amazon, around $200.
