Tamron Lense with AdaptAll2 mount gets stuck on Camera

When I put my vintage Tamron 80-210mm macro zoom on the D3100 and set the F stop to 32 (AE) a little tab on the camera's mount locks the AdaptAll2 on the camera. The only way I can remove the AdaptAll2 is by using a small screw driver to depress the tab while I turn the mount. What does that tab do and why would it lock the adapter on?
